1850s painting shows lady holding a smartphone

In what is being touted as a proof of time travelling, an 1850s painting has surfaced showing a young woman holding what could be a smartphone. The painting, done by Austrian artist Ferdinand George Warldmüller, shows a young woman walking along a countryside footpath as a young man also awaits her with a bunch of flowers in his hand. It’s however what the she appears to be holding in her hands that is bound to take you by surprise. A close look at her hands show her holding a small rectangular object that closely mirrors a modern day smartphone.

The emergence of the painting has stirred social media with several conspiracy theories coming up in explanation of the painting. Many users believe it could be a pointer to the reality of time travelling. Motherboard however has a different interpretation of the painting. They are suggesting that people are only influenced to believe the object is a smartphone because of the fact that today’s world is a tech one. They further explain that the young lady’s might as well have been holding a hymn book or so.
