Drawing on a child’s homework leads to the arrest of a Mexico Beach man

Staff at Port St. Joe Elementary School reported a rather strange drawing on a child’s homework and it lead to the arrest of Robert Paul Alexander Edwards. The 33-year-old man from Mexico Beach reportedly drew the following: a person running away from a school on fire, while other people were being shot, and the words Pew, Pew, Pew next to the person shooting.

Sheriff Mike Harrison said that the county has in the past been affected by horrific school tragedies and the matter needed to be taken seriously.

Even though there was no indication that Edwards was going to carry out the threats, he faces substantial jail time for a written threat to kill and inflict bodily harm on others. This is hoped to ensure that such incidents will not occur in future and that Robert Paul Alexander Edwards learns a lesson. Some critics later said that such threats should be taken seriously because you never know when and if someone can decide to transform such drawings into a harsh reality.
