5 EASY STEPS TO ACHIEVE HEALTHY SKIN

If you’re anything like me, you may have a slight obsession with your skin. I, like many other people, have struggled with acne and very oily skin. It drives me nuts! Most of us have probably spent plenty of money on creams, lotions ,and potions…..which is never fun. It is very important to take good care of your skin.  These few easy steps can help you out whether you have wrinkles, dry skin, blackheads, large pores, or even other skin care issues. You will soon be on your way to healthier skin in no time!

  1. WATER! WATER! WATER! This one is a given. We all know by now the importance of drinking water. Water can significantly reduce dehydration and improve the moisture of your skin leaving it not just looking good, but feeling great too!, So, drink water!!! Drink water in the morning, at your work desk, walking outside, typing on your computer…..*sips from straw*  The more water the better.

  2. EAT SUPERFOODS! There are plenty of foods that you consume that actually can increase your skins health. If you consume at least 2 tablespoons of olive oil a day , you start to see reduced signs of aging. Most people aren’t the biggest fan of these little fatty fish, but sardines are full of the type of omega-3 called DHA. DHA is an anti-inflammatory. Inflammation is a root cause of acne.  Kale is another superfood you can easily add to a smoothie or toss in a salad. Add more herbs to your diet, like thyme and rosemary, they are full of antioxidants that protect the skin.

  3. BE NICE TO THE SKIN YOU’RE IN! You must take care of your skin the best you can. Try to avoid using strong soaps, they can strip you skin of its natural oil, instead opt for a mild soap. Make sure to use a shaving cream, gel, or lotion while shaving with a clean, sharp razor, this help to protect the skin and keep it lubricated. Do not bathe in hot water or linger in long showers, doing this take oils from your skin. Next time you take a bath or a shower use warm water and limit your time. Don’t forget to moisturize, especially if you suffer from dry skin.

  4. DON’T SMOKE! Its bad for you and you skin. Just don’t do it.

  5. PROTECT YOU SKIN FROM THE SUN! The sun can be damaging to the skin. Try to avoid peak hours from 11am- 2pm when the rays from the sun are the strongest. Use sunscreen with at least an SPF of 15 and generously apply it to your skin. You can’t avoid the sun completely but do make it a habit to try to protect you skin when n the sun. Exposure to the sun over time can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems — like an increase the risk of skin cancer.
